Common Male Sexual Problems

Peyronie’s Disease
Peyronie’s Disease is acquired and the patient will have a history of normal, straight erections before the curvature was noted.  The cause of the disease is felt to be multiple small injuries to the erect or partially erect penis.  These may occur during sexual intercourse or perhaps with pressure on involuntary erections during sleep.

Because the scar tissue prevents straightening of the penis, the curvature is most obvious during an erection. The curvature can be so severe that it can prevent penetration during intercourse.  French surgeon Francois de la Peyronie first described Peyronie's Disease in 1743.

Because Peyronie's Disease involves deformity of an erect penis and can impair sexual intercourse, doctors have historically classified the condition as a form of impotence, or erectile dysfunction (ED).  Although Peyronie's Disease can involve impotence, doctors recognize impotence as only one factor that could be associated with the disorder.

For treatment, Dr. Grossman is now performing the "Single Relaxing Incision for Correction of Penile Curvature (Peyronie's Disease) based on Geometrical Principles" after having been trained by Dr. Paulo H. Egydio in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
